My Morning Routine


The morning is my “me” time, which means it has to be super relaxing, because  it sets the mood for the rest of my day. Normally, I don’t have to be anywhere until 10:00a.m. I set my alarm for 8:00a.m, but usually, I don’t actually get out of bed until 8:30a.m

The first thing I do while I’m still in bed is start listening to a podcast. Some of my go-to podcasts are The Daily by the New York Times, TED Talks, and The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. By listening to a podcast, I start my morning thinking and learning something new.

Once I feel fully awake, I get out of bed to get ready for the day: brush my teeth, wash my face, and do my makeup, if I’m leaving the house that day. Read more about my morning skincare routine here. I continue to listen to the podcast while I’m getting ready.

Once I’m dressed and ready for the day, I make my bed. A tidy living space sets me in a more organized and productive mood for the rest of the day. There is nothing worse than coming home after a long day to a messy bed.

Now time for FOOD! After sleeping for eight hours (ideally), I rehydrate my body with diluted apple cider vinegar, which helps jumpstart my metabolism and flush out toxins. I’m one of those people who always have to eat breakfast, or else I can’t concentrate on what I have to do because my mind will be on food.

Two of my favorite breakfast options are smoothies and overnight oats. They’re both super quick and easy to prepare and eat when I’m in a rush in the morning. On days when I have more time, I prefer to make scrambled eggs with spinach, mushrooms, and/or tomatoes. After breakfast, I take my vitamins, and then I’m out the door.
