Spring Decluttering Checklist

Processed With Darkroom

Happy April!

People who know me really well know that I’m OCD — “clothes color coded in the closet,” “logos facing forward in my bathroom and food pantry,” and “cleans furniture and vacuums every week” type of OCD. So it should come as no surprise that I do a Spring (and Summer, Fall, and Winter) Cleaning every year. Here’s a list of everything I like to go through and clean out at the beginning of every season. I also attached a free printable checklist version at the end of the post 🙂

Email inbox

  • Delete old, unnecessary emails
  • Clear spam and trash folders
  • Star important emails so they’re easier to find later

  • Store photos on a cloud software or a USB drive to free up space on your phone and computer

  • Delete old documents, college homework, class notes that you don’t need anymore

  • Get rid of those useless documents/papers
  • Test pens and throw out ones that are dried out

  • Donate or sell clothes that you no longer wear or love
  • Sell new or lightly used items on your college Facebook groups or online consignment stores like Poshmark and thredUP

Makeup & Skincare

  • Throw out expired makeup and skincare products; they are less effective and can even be harmful to your skin if expired
  • Products generally have a symbol (i.e. 12M) that tells you the shelf life of products after opening

  • Please clean out your fridge more than once per season…spoiled food is not fun
  • Check expired dates on packages so you are updated on what you should use up ASAP

Don’t forget to get the printable checklist! Happy Cleaning!
